Astounding Adventures! (1)

After finishing Our one on one campaign - Horror's Heart, I decided to use old BRP supplement - Astounding Adventures (as You can already tell after the topic of this entry). For many years it was the substitute of real Pulp Cthulhu, but even now, after the later landed in tentacles of fans all over the world, Astounding... is a very solid thing. 
The artwork is very good, the three adventures are fun and the adventure generator can be useful not only for straight Pulp adventures. After I choose the first adventure to run - Peril of Sumatra - and make a couple of handouts for my only player, I was ready to play.  Then something truly magnificent happened! One of the players from my first ever RPG group reach out to me and ask if he and his lady, can play with us. The now live in a different country, so for the first time ever I run game over the net. It was something different, exciting and fun. We use Skype. During play, I send them handouts in files. Overall it was a very good new experience. A lot of things to improve, but in the end, those players from abroad ask for another session. So I want to run then two other scenarios from Astounding Adventures and then we will see. Maybe something with Two Heads? But with real life™, different time zones, work, and other stuff is it even possible? No... It will be madness. Don't You think?

Horror's Heart

Last week was amazing! Truly amazing, without a doubt!
Of course, we use Pulp Cthulhu rules set, from obvious reasons. One player is not enough to stand before so many foes. And it was truly epic, but in a more personal and geographical scale than Masks of Nyarlathotep. We played this campaign in subsequent dates from 28 of October to 1 of November.5 scenarios, 5 fight nights. As for the campaign, it was the product of 90's and many changes had to be made to truly appreciate the climate and atmosphere of Montreal. But with cthulhureborn.wordpress.com handouts, sites with period maps (www.oldmapsonline.org)and so one, it is not impossible to do so. In the end, it was very good and creepy game. To its core... To its heart...

Just before Our first session of Horror's Heart, I've decided to have another scenario. For two reasons. First is, of course, reminding of Pulp Cthulhu rules after a long time not playing in this particular iteration of  BRP system. The second reason is to give my wife's character a special amulet. I want to give her some Deep One jewelry with 30 points of Luck. It may seem a bit too much, but remember she will be playing all alone in a campaign.
My first choice was Isle of Madness by Ed Possing from Miskatonic Repository. This is my first product from that line. It is quick, nasty little adventure. Cannot wait to run it. Maybe even this week!

Horror's Heart

My DG group is on hiatus for a moment, at home We recently ended Our three months period of playing Cyberpunk in Our classic Bielitz setting. So it is this time of the year again to play in Pulp Cthulhu. After last years Masks of Nyarlathotep, this time I want to play a more low key game. More intimate You might say. I choose Horror's Heart. Maybe not the best campaign out there, but definitely more suitable for my needs. Yesterday was session "0" and we create a character of thrill seeker Estella Porter who is a reporter. Below You can see my first round of handouts for my one and only player - NPC portraits.

Second DG Opera

For our second opera, I choose Kali Ghati scenario. That bloody, legendary scenario. Our group ends up with 50% loses from ambush. Then only got worse. But if You listen to all actual plays here on the net, nobody ends this scenario without a scratch. 

Two characters died, but after players want more, so we definitely will be rolling next characters. Maybe this time they choose more diversified professions. So I will be able to run for them the other cool scenarios? But witch one?

Not dead but dreaming?

So for a couple of weeks, we play in other games, but since the beginning of August, the new group came to be. Friends of ours want to play in Delta Green. So we decided to came along and present them with the new system, new adventures.
Everyone wants to play an army character so this makes us prepare something special. Life as always came to help us. Fears Little Sharp Needles came out, we backed this great project from Stygian Fox, so why not to use one of these scenarios for the new group? My first choice was The Winoka Point Research Center from Oscar Rios. The game was very intense, fast and brutal. One of the players lost hand other broke ribs. It was vicious fun!

Mansion of Madness (2)

Last Sunday we continue our little loosely campaign. After events of Darkness Beneath the Hill (from Doors to Darkness), it was very appropriate to run Mr Corbitt scenario from Mansions of Madness (which I received earlier last week). One of the players cannot be at the session, but another of Our regulars was able to play. So he chooses a Stanley Ace character (from How We Roll podcast I presume?). And we went for it!
No giving any spoilers this is a very tough scenario for players and very fun to run for Keeper. But after all, it went splendidly! Below You got the book with the handouts!
