RPG Update (40)

Earlier this month my Wife gave me a present. With a big surprise I found a parcel addressed to me from the Polish Publisher of Call of Cthulhu inside, as You already know were those two gorgeous books. Those two are the first in a long time sourcebooks for Call of Cthulhu that join my collection. For now, I'm still reading Golden Bought by Frazer, but in the meantime, I'm looking inside those tomes, and what I'm finding there are lots of inspirations for future scenarios. I hope to properly read it through from the first page to the last.

Solo play (2)

With the first snow in my corner of Earth, I've decided to play with the second installment of solo books from Black Monk - At the Mountains of Madness. When everybody goes to sleep I put on my headphones with Graham Plowman At the Mountains of Madness music on. My notepad and my Waterman. It was I mind-bending experience. After a day full of house chores I just cut myself from reality and became for a couple of minutes the main character of that story. It was a blast to the cold end. And the end was cold indeed. If You got this book, You can see what path I chose. Here it is: 1, 46, 108, 106, 41, 78, 61, 36. Tonight I will play it once again, maybe this time I will live a little bit longer.

Library Update (11)

Last time I show You my newest possessions of Stefan Grabiński's books. They are now on my "List of Shame". A couple of days later I've received another package. This time parcel comes from the Polish publisher of The Call of Cthulhu - Black Monk. Not an RPG book itself, but second in line of Paragraph Games - Beyond the Mountains of Madness! I will play it when the winter comes...

Library Update (7)

As You may know, I'm a fan of solo playing. I'm trying many different styles of games for solo play, like board games (Arkham Files are one of the best for solo plays) also role-playing games, like Alone Against the Dark from Chaosium (cannot wait for translation into Polish language other adventures in that line - Alone Against the Frost and also Alone Against the Tide). As You can see my interest is rather narrow, so when I find Choose Cthulhu books on the Kickstarter couple of years ago, I just sighed and hope for some publisher to pick it up in Poland. My prayers to the Cthulhu and his kind were answered this year. Blackmonk Games just released the first book in this series - based on the most important for many of us tale by H.P. Lovecraft - Call of Cthulhu. Here it is in its blasphemous glory:

Now I just need to find time to read/play/create it for myself.

Library Update (6) - Christmas Haul

In Poland, we have Christmas Eve, when we sit with our families eating sumptuous supper and find presents under the Christmas tree. This is a magical time for all of us and in the light of the whole year 2020, it is something calming, that we can meet with our family around the table in good health. This is a privilege which not everybody has. So we gather and celebrate and thanks for that. After that time there is a moment for presents. This year I found many things that make me smile on my face.

Cthulhu Gloom! At last!

Nightmare Tales from H.P. Blavatsky

The Comming Race by Edward Bulwer-Lytton

Songs of a Dead Dreamer by Thomas Ligotti

...and 10 adventures for one Keeper and one Player for Call of Cthulhu!

I must say I've got one problem. Big problem. I do not know what to start reading first. And this is a problem I can live with! Hope You only have such problems!

Marry Christmas Everyone!

Alone Against The Dark

Today I've got something different. I think in the first time in the history Polish version of Call of Cthulhu book looks better than the original version. Of course in the near future, there will be a total revmap or maybe a coloring of a couple of books that were first in 7th Edition line, but for now...

Polish edition is hardcover so it makes a big difference from the start. When You open the book it is not closing quickly. Art on the cover is a matter of personal preferences, I like both! Then, when You look inside,  page layout and most of the handouts also are in full color.

Everything is the same, maybe except for two things. In the original version, the character sheet is blurred and in Polish book is razor sharp.

The second difference is in the advertisement at the end of the book - of course, it is reasonable. In the end, both of this book gives so many hours of superb tentacled fun, that whichever version You choose, You will be satisfied or terrified, or both.
