The fifth and not the last level was my first brush with AI-generated art. I've already talked about it in my other blog post. I've got zero skills in drawing, so an opportunity to write something I see in my mind and receive it or something similar for my own use is somewhat wonderful. It also enhances the vibe of the book. Of course, it must be used only for my home games, nothing except that.
The fourth and not the last thing is establishing NPCs and places in my own game world. So now I have not only characters from the rulebook and Electric Dreams but also my own. This same is true with places, but in this case, Blader Runner RPG discord has a couple of nice surprises. I used their VooDoo club as an alternative to everyone's favorite Snape Pit. So I use them and expand on them. But if I find a game scene when I don't know what place it will be I've used Augmented Reality from Geist Hack Games - everything You need to generate whole cyberpunk or in this case Blade Runner City.

The third thing is that when You play in solo mode in a new game, You can take Your time and read the rules as many times as you need. It is important, that you've got that whole time. Playing with real people searching for some particular rule can kill the momentum, your immersion, and players' engagement. So this is my time to learn the mechanics of this game. So now I know how to run it more appropriately than three months ago. Also, I've got time to since in the atmosphere of that book, and by gods! there is a lot of atmosphere on that pages. So You can sometimes waste your time during play just to stare at one illustration of the page.

Second, an essential thing is consistency. For the first time for me, I was coming back weekend after weekend to see what was going on. Solo Roleplaying is somewhat different from regular games. When You play with other people You must be on time, You have to be prepared, even if You are a Player, with solo RPG it is difficult because You always say to Yourself: Maybe I will play tomorrow? but in many cases that tomorrow never comes. So consistency was the thing that killed almost every other attempt of solo RPG in my case. The sheer love of the setting and both films (the first one more of course) was the trigger the glue that stuck me to this game for so long time. OR maybe the fact, that even from the start, when I created those two Player Characters, I wanted to know what was their story, what was their relationship with themself and with the world around them. So when Saturday was coming, I just couldn't wait to sit with books, dices, character sheets, and my laptop, to write another part of their story.

For the last 3 months every Saturday and Sunday morning, I played my solo Blade Runner RPG game for at least an hour each. Last Saturday I ended this story. It was a great game on many different levels. So let me share with You my experience in the next couple of blogposts.
First, I would never have started playing in such a thing if I had never stumbled upon this page. From there I learned some tricks on how to play in Blade Runner RPG without any rules. So I've spoken with the author of this site on Blade Runner RPG discord. From there I gleaned some of his tools for playing solo. With my own rulebook and quickstart rules and of course, new characters I've created for this game and no chances for normal gameplay (my young one still is going to sleep between 11 p.m. and midnight) what else can I do? So I went straight ahead. First of all, I've read the whole thing and I'm still doing it on the page I mentioned above. And with the tools that the author gave to those on Discord, I've started playing. It wasn't easy, but in the end, it paid off.

As You may know, at the end of the last year I've played in solitary adventure from West End Games for Indiana Jones RPG. After some searching in my old pdf, I've found another such gem. This time for the Masterbook system. Just like the last time, it was a blast! This time it was during The lost Ark movie in Cairo. The main hero was Indiana stand-in, but this was a minor difference. Also, I was listening to the soundtrack from that movie. It was another nice experience. Too bad that I think this is the last solitaire adventure for our favorite whip-handling archeologist. I'm thinking about all these other adventures... Maybe I could make them fit into one campaign? Somewhere in the future? Maybe? Using Astounding Adventures as a system base for them? With little Pulp Cthulu sprinkled on it?
As You may know, I'm a fan of solo playing. I'm trying many different styles of games for solo play, like board games (Arkham Files are one of the best for solo plays) also role-playing games, like Alone Against the Dark from Chaosium (cannot wait for translation into Polish language other adventures in that line - Alone Against the Frost and also Alone Against the Tide). As You can see my interest is rather narrow, so when I find Choose Cthulhu books on the Kickstarter couple of years ago, I just sighed and hope for some publisher to pick it up in Poland. My prayers to the Cthulhu and his kind were answered this year. Blackmonk Games just released the first book in this series - based on the most important for many of us tale by H.P. Lovecraft - Call of Cthulhu. Here it is in its blasphemous glory:
Now I just need to find time to read/play/create it for myself.
The last three days I spend playing in One Page Cthulhu - a solo RPG You can buy for PWYW on DriveThru. (PWYW are separate adventures the whole book is for 0.99) This is one of my new forays into a new brand of roleplaying. For some time I already play in Alone Against The Dark from Chaosium, but I've taken hiatus from that game almost a year ago. Now I decided to try something different. Already played in the first mission three times. Love every one of them. Tonight I will play in second for the first time. I decided I want to try more diverse things, so this is my first attempt at this. I've created my first PC - Steven Harding a hardboiled P.I. My first mission for Dr. Herbert West was a success. Cannot wait to find out more about another set of subterranean tunnels somewhere in the vicinity of Arkham.
